Frequently Asked Questions
What are the government incentives for going solar
Natural resources Canada has developed The Greener homes funding which allows eligible homeowners to receive up to $40,000 to fund their solar project. The program allows you to return those funds over 10 Years with 0% Interest.
Will I still be receiving an electricity bill from my utility company?
No! We design 99% of our solar systems to make sure you don’t have to worry about getting your electricity from the utility company.
Does Solar work in the winter?
Solar Panel efficiency is affected minimally in the winter. But thanks to the provincial net metering program, homeowners with solar can generate electricity credits during the summer by selling power to the utility company. Those credits can be redeemed in the winter months when you require additional power from the utility company to power your home. According to ________ solar panels actually work more efficiently in colder climates and also due to the ______ effect you are able to absorb more sunlight . We also install our systems to be at a minimum angle of 40 degrees which allows heavy snowfall to slide with gravity as the bottom surface of the snow is being melted by the solar panels thermal friction from generating electricity. In the winter we definitely do receive less sunlight but due to our bright summers, we are able to redistribute that overproduction to the utility company to provide credits for when you would need to rely on the grid in summer.
When does the government program end?
The Greener Homes program is set to end in March 2024. Due to the limited amount of funding remaining , Natural Resources Canada has decided to remove this program federally.

What is NEM?
Net Energy Metering (NEM) is a solar program offered by utility companies. This program allows you to receive credit from your utility for the excess electricity generated by your solar system.
How does NEM Work?
When your system generates energy, it will power the appliances that require electricity. This energy will replace the energy you usually get from your utility company.
There may be times when you produce more energy than your home needs. In such cases, the surplus energy will be sold back to the utility company. By selling back the excess energy, you will receive an energy credit on your bill that can be used later.
However, there may be occasions throughout the year when you need to use additional power from the utility company, especially during the shorter days of winter. In this situation, if you have generated more energy in previous months, you can use the credit on your bill to cover the electricity used during those months.
